Gavray: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

The Foire Saint-Luc has existed since 1198 and is a three-day autumn fair organised by the municipality of Gavray-sur-Sienne. Friday includes a horse and foal show; tastings of local products are also offered.

Le ravitaillement is a venue for art and rural practice founded in Gavray-sur-Sienne in 2021. From April to November, its programme includes contemporary art exhibitions, performances, artist residencies and workshops.

The Vestiges du Château Ducal site is mentioned in a document dating from 832. The ruins of the Château Ducal lie on a rocky promontory 80 metres above the Sienne and Bérence rivers. They are free of charge and freely accessible; guided tours take place in summer.

The Chapelle Saint Jean Baptiste dates from the early 17th century and is located in the cemetery of Gavray-sur-Sienne.

Nature

The Carrefour des randonneurs is a wetland typical of the banks of the Sienne. It has a fishing pier for people with disabilities.

Le Jardin de la Chevallerie is home to more than 400 plant species.

Paths

The Quartier de la Planche is located along the 14.5-kilometre hiking trail no. 9, “Entre Sienne et Bérence”. The area features several traditional houses and a washhouse.

The circular route “Les chemins de Gavray” runs along the Bérence towards La Baleine and the Sienne valley; northeast of Gavray, it becomes technically demanding and particularly difficult.

Food and Drink

Andouillerie La Baleine is one of the last traditional producers of Andouille de Vire. During a tour, the production process and its secrets are explained, followed by a tasting.

Distillerie Montjoie is open year-round. Tours with tastings are available year-round by reservation; the products on offer include gin, pastis and numerous liqueurs.
