Folligny: Holiday apartments and houses

Py Park in Folligny comprises two underground rooms; along a short circular trail, information panels provide details about this historical period. Py Park is open to the public from the first Monday in April to the last Friday in October.

History and culture

The covered washhouse on Rue de la Beslière in the centre of Folligny was used until the mid-20th century. A picnic table is available near the washhouse.

The Church of Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul in La Beslière, a municipality associated with Folligny, was built in the 18th century. The altarpiece in this church is listed as an object among the Monuments historiques. The Church of Notre-Dame de Folligny preserves traces of Romanesque architecture, particularly visible in the buttresses of its choir.

The Manoir de La Beslière was built using stones salvaged from the demolition of an earlier 15th-century manor house. The railway station is also part of the town’s history: it was established in 1870 and remains an important railway junction where the Caen–Rennes and Paris–Granville lines cross. On 17 June 1940, Folligny railway station was bombed; Py Park commemorates this site and the wartime history of the station.

Nature and trails

The Doucoeur River in Folligny is part of ZNIEFF Type 1 no. 0057-0001, “L’Airou et ses affluents”, which encompasses the wetlands of the Airou and its tributaries.

The challenging La Lucerne & Py Park mountain-biking circuit is 25.9 kilometres long and runs through the La Lucerne forest to Py Park in Folligny, a memorial site dedicated to the Second World War. The walking trails connecting Folligny, La Beslière and Le Mesnil-Drey are part of the Chemins de Saint Michel.

The chestnut tree on the road between La Haye-Pesnel and Le Mesnil-Drey is listed as an Arbre Remarquable de la Manche.

Local life

The Foire Saint-Barnabé is a local highlight in Folligny and takes place at the beginning of June. Guided village tours led by local guides are available in Folligny.
