Culture and History

The Église Notre-Dame de Chérencé-le-Roussel is a Catholic church in the new municipality of Juvigny-les-Vallées. Around 1105, the church of Chérencé-le-Roussel, together with the parish's tithes, was transferred to the Abbey of Lonlay in the Orne département.

The church's high altar features a reredos with four Corinthian columns and an 18th-century canopy. The latter is topped by a radiant glory with putti, volutes, and a crown. Since 1991, the high altar has been listed as an object in the register of historic monuments.

The former Filature Mauviel was converted from a paper mill into a spinning mill in 1897. The Filature Mauviel, which operated until 1976, still houses the machinery from that period, including carding machines and looms. The former Filature Mauviel is located partly in Le Mesnil-Tôve and partly in Chérencé-le-Roussel.
