Geographical location
At 368 metres, the Belvédère de Chaulieu is the highest point in the Manche department. The wooden tower of the Belvédère has an orientation table and offers a 360-degree view over the Mortainais-Bocage. On the VéloWestNormandy, shortly before Sourdeval at the junction with the D498, a 2-kilometre route leads to Chaulieu, where the highest point of the Manche department is located.
Nature
The Sée rises in Chaulieu, as does the Egrenne. In clear weather, Mont Saint-Michel can be seen from Chaulieu.
Culture and history
Parts of the Château de Chaulieu are listed as a historic monument. The protected features are the façades and roofs of the château, the former chapel and former stables, as well as the fireplace in the great hall on the ground floor.
The Church of Saint Martin in Chaulieu dates from the 17th to the 19th century and has an 18th-century altar.
Activities
The La Bigotière motocross track in the municipality of Chaulieu is laid out on natural earth; its course is 1,945 metres long. It was approved in 2015 as a recreational track for motocross.
