Benoîtville: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Culture

The Église Saint-Pierre has 13 stained-glass window panels dating from 1947. It also contains a polychrome statue of the Virgin and Child from the 14th or 15th century, which has been protected as a historic monument since 1972 as a movable object. Another statue depicts Saint Fiacre and dates from the 16th century; he is regarded as the patron saint of gardeners. The church’s bell tower has been partially protected as a historic monument since 24 January 1947.

The local history also includes several crosses. The Croix Georges now stands set back from the roundabout. It was presumably located directly at the intersection in the past, served as a landmark before the French Revolution, and bears the years 1805 and 1862. The Croix Cosquet is a cross dating from the 17th century, made from a single block of stone, and stands at the intersection of the D408 and the dairy.

The Moulin de Bouillon served as the starting point for establishing a dairy in 1904, after the dairy cooperative had been founded in Benoistville. The Maison de Benoitville dates from the 17th to 18th century.

Getting around

The RD650 crosses Benoîtville and connects Cherbourg with Mont-Saint-Michel. In addition, the “Entre Diélette et Divette – no. 164” hiking trail can be accessed along the way at the “Benoistville – La Croix Georges” stop.
