The Hatainville dune massif extends across Baubigny and Les Moitiers-d’Allonne, covers 400 hectares and reaches a height of 80 metres. Baubigny is one of the municipalities in the Natura 2000 protected area “Littoral Ouest du Cotentin de Saint-Germain-sur-Ay au Rozel”.

Trails

The GR 223 and two educational hiking trails cross the Baubigny dune massif; they offer the opportunity to discover the biodiversity of this habitat and its wooded valleys. The GR®223 crosses the Hatainville dune massif. On the coastal section of the GR®223, the route from Surtainville to Baubigny leads 3 kilometres into the dunes. From Baubigny to Hatainville, the GR®223 leads away from the sea and offers a view of the Flamanville headland.

Culture and history

The baptismal fonts in the Église Saint-Martin in Baubigny are made of limestone and have a hinge-free copper lid with handles decorated with lion heads. The Fontaine Saint-Martin is located not far from the Église Saint-Martin, in the direction of the Mielles.

The Croix Saint-Paul in Saint-Paul-des-Sablons in Baubigny is a wayside cross made of Flamanville stone and the only surviving element of the former parish.

The Manoir de Baubigny dates from the 16th to the 17th century. The Manoir Saint Paul dates from the 18th century. The Ferme-manoir de la Vallée is a fortified farmstead at the entrance to the village of La Vallée.
