The Musée du Poiré is the only Musée de France dedicated to poiré. Since 1983, it has been housed in Barenton in the buildings of a stone, earth and half-timbered farm typical of the Norman bocage landscape. The museum displays historical equipment used to crush fruit, as well as modern tools and processes; visitors can sample local agricultural products there. From the Véloscénie, it can be reached via an eight-minute detour of 5.3 km there and back. Its conservation garden contains around one hundred varieties of pears and apples. The Musée du Poiré also offers an entertaining tour that can be enjoyed with family or friends. During its opening period from April to October, numerous free events open to everyone are held every year, including workshops, concerts, performances, exhibitions and theatre.
