The Marais d’Auxais is one of eleven sensitive natural areas (ENS) located in the marshlands and protected by the Manche Department, and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna.

Culture
The Notre-Dame d’Auxais church was built to plans by the architect Pierre-André Lebreton after the former church was damaged during the fighting in 1944; construction began in 1958 and was completed in 1960.
Notre-Dame d’Auxais has a flat-ended chancel and a saddleback-roofed tower, two architectural elements traditionally used in local ecclesiastical architecture. The nave uses triangular reinforced-concrete trusses and is illuminated by groups of three round-arched window openings.
The former church of Auxais, also known as the “Cathédrale des Rotz”, is protected as a historic monument.
The Saint-Martin church in Auxais offers panoramic views of the surrounding Marais du Cotentin. It has remained in the condition it was in at that time ever since.
Historical Traces
The Château d’Auxais, which disappeared after the fighting in 1944, was surrounded by a water-filled moat; the restored chapel can be viewed from the bridge spanning it.
