The suspension bridge connects Viterbe with Brazis. At Viterbe, it carries the RD149 over the Agout.
Before the present-day bridge was built, the Agout at Viterbe was crossed by ferry; a boat for transporting a vehicle was also considered.
History
Archaeological remains in Viterbe provide evidence of settlement since the Paleolithic period. Viterbe also has remains from the period of Roman occupation.
The origins of Viterbe can be dated to the end of the 13th century. During this period, Philippe le Bel decided to build a bastide and granted the inhabitants a charter.
