Vieux: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Vieux is a medieval village set amid a landscape of vineyards and mixed farming. The village covers around 700 hectares of clay- and limestone-rich slopes. Cereal and fodder crops, meadows, and wooded areas lie between the vineyards.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Eugène is a 14th-century building. Its nave is divided into six aisles and six bays; the bell tower stands at the western end on the axis of the nave. The church also includes a polygonal apse and several side chapels. On 24 February 1906, the Église Saint-Eugène was classified as a Monument historique.

The Peire Lebade menhir dates from the Neolithic period. By decree of 22 March 1977, it was classified as a Monument historique. The Peire Lebade menhir in Vieux is also designated as an archaeological site.

Landscape and Trails

The Vère runs through Vieux and is a tributary of the Aveyron. A signposted trail connects the village with the Sainte-Carissime menhir: from the village of Vieux, the Chemin de la Vère au Saint-Hussou provides access to this destination; the trail follows the D1 and crosses the Vère.

The Chemin de la Vère au Saint-Hussou is a 14.2-kilometre hiking route. It passes through vineyards and valleys and along the banks of the Vère.

Market and Local Products

The Vieux market is scheduled to take place on Wednesdays from 1 July to 31 December 2026. In July and August, it starts at 7 p.m.; from September to December, it starts at 6 p.m.

Local producers sell organic vegetables, naturally leavened sourdough bread, and organic wines at the market. Tables and benches are available for sitting and eating; in good weather, a food truck serves food there. The local food truck “En-k à Part” offers a daily special, French fries, and tacos.
