Saint-Juéry: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Culture and history

The Musée du Saut du Tarn presents 200 years of industrial and social history with animated models, films and demonstrations. It is located in a former hydroelectric power station at the industrial site, which is now classified as a historic monument. The tour includes dynamos, alternators, underground canals and turbines.

The Tour des Avalats is a fortified structure in Saint-Juéry dating from the first quarter of the 16th century. It has been listed as a historic monument since 12 April 1954.

Parc Saint-Amour features an information board and a steam hammer commemorating the Saint-Juéry steelworks. The church of Saint-Benoît des Avalats is first mentioned as a beneficiary of bequests in a will by Countess Garsinde of Toulouse dating from 972.

A dugout coffin is displayed in the former washhouse of Les Avalats; it probably came from the cemetery surrounding the church. The circular trail “Du Capial à Caramentran” passes through the medieval fortified village and by the former “La Portanelle” castle gate.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the site at Saut de Sabo proved suitable for establishing a metallurgical plant.

Trails and landscape

The Balade Avalatoise is an 8-kilometre circular hiking trail that explores the heritage of Saint-Juéry and Les Avalats. Classified as an easy hike, it covers 8.3 kilometres and takes around 2 hours and 15 minutes. The Balade Avalatoise is freely accessible every day all year round.

“Du Capial à Caramentran” is a 3.8-kilometre hiking trail bearing the Fédération Française de Randonnée designation. The “Chemins de Bellevue” form an 11-kilometre hiking trail with views over the Tarn Valley and the old centre of Saint-Juéry. The “Chemin des Fontaines” is a variant of the GR 36 that follows the Tarn through Saint-Juéry.

The Trail des Forgerons takes place on the paths and in the forests of the municipality of Saint-Juéry.

On the Tarn

A canoe and kayak trip follows the Tarn from Trébas via Ambialet to the hamlet of Les Avalats.

Lo Capial welcomes groups and individuals in summer for canoeing and kayaking in the Tarn Valley, departing from the base in Les Avalats.

Transport connections

Several bus routes connect Albi with Saint-Juéry and provide access to the Musée du Saut du Tarn.
