Culture and history

The Château de Garrevaques was built in the mid-15th century. After being damaged during the Wars of Religion, it was rebuilt, set on fire during the French Revolution, and partially reconstructed around 1800. Renovation work in 1862 gave the building its present appearance, including slate roofs and cladding made of imitation bricks.

The salon of the Château de Garrevaques, featuring the panoramic wallpaper cycle “Les amours de Psyché et Cupidon”, was listed as a historic monument by a decree dated 30 May 2016. The Château de Gandels also dates from the Restoration period. The Château de Garrevaques offered an immersive experience entitled “L’art de vivre à la française au XIXème siècle”.
