Fraissines: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Corniches du Tarn hike is a moderately difficult trail covering 10.5 kilometres and taking approximately three hours, starting from the Église de Fraissines. The GR736 Gorges et vallées du Tarn is a difficult, 61.1-kilometre traverse from Fraissines to Albi that takes three days.

Hiking

At the starting point of the Corniches du Tarn, there are parking spaces, toilets, a water point and a picnic table. Luggage and passenger transport, as well as customised transfers along the entire route, are available for the GR736.

Nature

The Corniches du Tarn hiking trail crosses slopes covered with tree heather in spring and broom heather in summer. Along the trail, there is a viewpoint overlooking the Aveyron and the village of Combradet, situated on a ridge; the route also passes the waterfall of the Jonquet stream.

Fraissines lies within the ZNIEFF “Vallée du Tarn, amont”, a natural inventory area with diverse forests, meadows, fields, dry grasslands, fallow land, rocky outcrops, steep slopes and scree slopes.

Culture

The Église Saint-Jacques contains four protected historic objects. The Croix de Fraissines is a cemetery cross in the cemetery of the Église Saint-Jacques. It was created in the 16th century in the Late Gothic style and has been classified as a historic monument since 7 January 1953. In Fraissines, the preserved old church tower stands beside the newly built church tower.

The Marie-Victoire bell in Fraissines was cast in Albi in 1852 and bears engraved Latin litanies. The Corniches du Tarn hiking trail passes the Pierre des Morts dolmen site, where the bier was traditionally set down during funeral processions.

Fraissines is included in the demand-responsive transport service Val 81.
