Orgueil: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Orgueil meteorite fell on 14 May 1864 in a field in the municipality of Orgueil. It is a very rare carbonaceous chondrite, weighed more than 14 kg, and is the most massive of the nine known CI chondrites.
Culture and History
The Church of Saint Ferréol can be visited in Orgueil. It was built in 1876 in the Neo-Gothic style, based on plans by the Toulouse architect Germain Dutour. Inside, there is a copy of Titian’s painting “Christ Crowned with Thorns”. A stele erected in Orgueil on 24 May 1964 also commemorates the meteorite fall.
Routes and Landscape
The River Tarn forms the boundary of Orgueil. The Vélo-voie verte du Tarn, a flat, safe and shaded route for walks on foot or by bicycle, runs through the municipality. The Vélo Voie Verte can be explored on foot in Orgueil. The two cycling loops “Du Tarn et ses coteaux” can start at the Salle des fêtes in Orgueil.
