The Musée Calbet is housed in a half-timbered town house dating from the 17th century. It preserves collections on regional everyday life from prehistory to the present day and includes a collection on Grisolles' former industry of making straw brooms from sorghum straw. Since 2002, the Musée Calbet has provided space for exhibitions and residencies by contemporary artists.
Culture
The Church of Saint-Martin has an 18th-century portal with white marble sculptures. The Coulom workshop can be visited by prior reservation. Jean Marc Coulom continues there a tradition of making straw brooms that is now in decline.
Anyone choosing Grisolles as a travel destination will want to rent a holiday apartment.
Water and Trails
The Mauvers les Bordes site in Grisolles was designated for its ecological importance on the banks of the Garonne. Leisure activities in Grisolles include boating and rowing on the canal.
The “Boucle Vélo De Canal à Garonne” cycling loop has a possible starting point at the Espace socio-culturel in Grisolles. It takes in waterscapes ranging from the developed waterway of the Canal des Deux Mers to the wild Garonne River.
Town and History
The “Circuit patrimoine: ville Grisolles” takes you through the centre of Grisolles in about an hour. Another trail of discovery is “Les traces du voleur de couleurs”: this is a 90-minute urban game in Grisolles that draws on the history of Grisolles' first colour photograph.
