Culture and History
The Church of Saint-Eparque was built in the 16th or 17th century and extensively remodelled from 1856 to 1864 by the architect Raymond Rivière. It is a building in the Neo-Gothic style. Inside, there is an oil painting on canvas depicting Christ on the cross, with the Virgin Mary to his right and Saint John to his left.
Gimat was historically the capital of the Gimadois. The town’s sights also include the cross at the Canto Coucut site. At Haras du Chêne, the breeding of French trotters has been a tradition since 1953.
Location and Routes
Gimat stretches along the left bank of the Gimone. The D928 departmental road runs through the town.
Agriculture
Ferme d’en Suis sells agricultural products directly from the farm by appointment. Since 2004, Ferme d’en Suis has preserved the agricultural know-how of Lomagne.
Cycling Route
The signposted circular route “Circuit des vallons – Lomagne V2” is 60 km long and designed for advanced cyclists.
