Albias: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The circular trail Circuit des Vergers PR1 begins at the Parc des Berges in Albias. It follows paved side roads and paths through the Albias countryside. Numerous orchards can be seen along the route. In addition to the traditional peach and plum-growing areas, Albias’s orchards also include apples, nectarines and kiwis.

Culture and History

The parish church of Saint-Georges is associated with the founding of the bastide of Albias around 1280. After the troops of the Duke of Mayenne destroyed the village and church in 1621, the parish church was rebuilt between 1621 and 1687. Brickwork can be seen on the exterior walls, and the church also has six side chapels.

The grain mill Moulin du Bias began milling operations on 4 November 1781 and developed into a major grain mill in the Aveyron Valley.

Wine and Regional Produce

The Domaine de Montels offers tours of the wine-growing operation and winery. The Domaine de Montels in Albias produces red, rosé and white wines from thirteen different grape varieties.

The programme also includes a half-day discovery of the vineyard, with grape picking, grape pressing and the tasting of grape juice or wine. The Fête des vendanges at the Domaine de Montels includes an introduction to the world of wine, cooking and tasting classes, manual grape harvesting and a farmers’ market. This Fête des vendanges was scheduled for the first Sunday in September.

The Marché de producteurs is a farmers’ market offering regional produce. Its selection includes organic vegetables, sheep’s cheese, melons, strawberries and local honey.

Albias station is an unstaffed railway halt.
