Vayrac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Oppidum of Uxellodunum is located on the Puy d’Issolud plateau in Vayrac and Saint-Denis-Lès-Martel. It was the last Gallic town to resist Caesar’s legions during the conquest of Gaul in 51 BC. Archaeological excavations uncovered Gallic and Roman weapons, including arrowheads, pila and catapult bolts.

Culture
The Musée d’Uxellodunum in Vayrac displays a model of the oppidum on the Puy d’Issolud and houses archaeological finds, including a ballista and arrowheads.
The Church of Saint Martin in Vayrac was completely rebuilt at the end of the 15th or beginning of the 16th century. Its bell tower contains a bell dating from 1512, bearing a Gothic inscription and low-relief carvings, including a depiction of Saint Martin of Tours. A masonry chemin de ronde along the top of the apse, sentry posts on the buttresses and preserved corbels of machicolations made the church a fortified church.
Landscape
Vayrac lies in a broad valley of the Dordogne, which continues along its tributaries, the Maumont and the Sourdoire. On the left bank, the limestone plateau of the Causse de Gramat and the picturesque village of Mézels with its spoil heaps shape the landscape around Vayrac.
Activities
The Espace Loisirs des Granges in Vayrac has a mountain-bike course. It is freely accessible at no charge. There is also a playground for children and adults.
