At 327 m, Pech de la Pauze is the highest point in the municipality of Vaylats. It is also an inselberg, formed from a Tertiary lacustrine marl layer that was eroded away around it. From there, you can enjoy a 360° panorama of the surrounding landscape: to the east, it extends as far as the Monts du Cantal, to the south as far as the Pyrenees, and to the west as far as the plumes of smoke from the Golfech nuclear power plant. Lac de Sindou is one of the lakes in Vaylats.

The Church of Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens in Vaylats was rebuilt in 1895 on the site of a Gothic church dating from the late 15th or early 16th century. Its stained-glass windows were created by Gustave-Pierre DAGRANT, a glass artist from Bordeaux.
