Thémines lies on a geological boundary between the limestone Causse and the clay-rich Limargue, on the eastern edge of the Parc naturel régional des Causses du Quercy. One of the area’s prominent landscape features is the Pertes de Thémines: this is where the Ouysse disappears underground and resurfaces 20 kilometres away near Rocamadour. Hiking
The GR6, a variant of the Way of Saint James on the Via Podiensis, crosses the municipality of Thémines. From the GR6 in Thémines, travellers can head west via L'Hôpital d'Issendolus, Gramat and the Alzou Canyon to Rocamadour, which is 23 kilometres away. Eastwards, the route leads via Rueyres, Rudelle, Lacapelle-Marival, Saint-Bressou and Cardaillac to Figeac, which is 34 kilometres away.

Culture and Prehistory
The Ancienne halle in Thémines is a small square market hall from the 17th century with four corner pillars and eight monolithic intermediate pillars. It has been classified as a Monument historique since 28 February 1951.
The Grotte de Roucadour is not open to the general public for conservation reasons. It is one of the oldest decorated caves in Quercy; its rock art is attributed to the Gravettian culture and dates to between 33,500 and 27,000 years before present. The decorated gallery contains 495 rock-art motifs, including 140 engraved depictions of animals. The motifs are located mainly in a crevice at the end of the decorated gallery.
Numerous dolmens of the Causse can be seen in Thémines. The Grotte des Escabasses ou de la Vipère is located near Carrière Ferrade in Thémines.
