Thégra combines Romanesque architectural heritage, a distinctive château and two trails of differing difficulty levels that begin directly at the church forecourt. When staying in Thégra, you may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture
The church in Thégra is a small Romanesque building whose structure dates from the 12th century. Beneath its crossing is a crypt containing a preserved 12th-century altar. The church and its crypt were protected as historic monuments by decree of 9 March 1923.
Thégra Château consists of a rectangular main building with two round towers at the northeast and northwest corners. A third tower stands on the southern façade and contains a spiral staircase. The present château was built on the site of an older castle after Quercy was freed from English occupation around 1443. The façades and roofs of Thégra Château were listed as historic monuments by decree of 29 June 1960.
Trails
Both the Boucle de Bral and the Circuit des fontaines begin at the forecourt of Thégra church. The Boucle de Bral is a very easy, family-friendly 4.5 km hiking trail. The Circuit des fontaines is a moderate 12 km route for hiking or mountain biking.
Local tradition
Every autumn, the Fête de la Noix in Thégra celebrates the walnut. The festival includes demonstrations, food markets and meetings with producers.
The municipal territory of Thégra was among the areas whose municipalities were classified as the Causses du Quercy Regional Nature Park for ten years from the date of publication of the decree of 1 October 1999.
