Soturac: Holiday Apartments and Houses
At the bottom of the Thèze Valley, the Tour de Ségadènes stands behind a group of trees beside a pond. The former medieval manor house is also a medieval mill. Those choosing Soturac as a destination because of the Tour de Ségadènes may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture
The Tour de Ségadènes features late-medieval twin windows from the late 13th century with carved capitals, as well as loopholes. The Château du Fossat has a tall square tower dating from the 13th or 14th century. It was built on the banks of the Lot; several irregular building sections surround a courtyard that opens towards the river.
Getting Around
The voie verte is reserved exclusively for non-motorised traffic. The section between Puy-l’Evêque and Soturac runs entirely along the former Cahors–Monsempron-Libos railway line, which was closed to passenger services in 1971, and makes it possible to discover the Lot Valley safely at your own pace.
Wine
The vineyard of Château les Hauts d’Aglan is located in Soturac on the highest slopes of the appellation and faces entirely south. In 2008, the château converted its vineyard to organic farming and offers wine tastings and cellar tours.
The 38-hectare estate of Château Lamartine is managed entirely organically. Its vineyards extend across three different terroir levels, including the old terraces of the Lot Valley.
Domaine du Peyrié operates a 15-hectare family vineyard in Soturac in the Lot, on the western edge of the Cahors AOC area. It produces Cahors wines made from 100 percent Malbec and offers wine tastings and vineyard tours.
Domaine de Lavaur offers free wine tastings and cellar tours on its opening days.
