Saint Cirq Lapopie: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Saint-Cirq-Lapopie is a medieval village on a rocky cliff above the Lot River. From the summit of the Rocher Lapopie, a 360-degree panorama extends across the Lot, the village rooftops and its pedestrian streets.

The Rocher Lapopie is located at the highest point of the rocky cliff. The first castle of the village stood there; it was built in the 10th century and remodelled in the 12th century.

Culture and History

The remains of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie's fortified town gates belong to the architectural heritage dating from the 13th to the 16th century and can be visited around the village. Saint-Cirq-Lapopie has at least 13 historic monuments in total.

The Church of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, dedicated to Saint Cyr and Saint Juliette, is a Gothic religious building from the 15th century with frescoes inside. The interior of the church is open to the public.

The Centre international du surréalisme et de la citoyenneté mondiale brings together the Maison Breton and the Maison Rignault. The Maison Breton is a fortified house with a 13th-century tower and was formerly the home of the writer André Breton.

The Circuit du Geoparc par Saint-Cirq-Lapopie is a multi-day hiking route with numerous minor heritage sites, stations belonging to the Géoparc du Quercy, beautiful views of the Lot Valley and a highlight in Saint-Cirq-Lapopie.

The Circuit de la Vallée du Lot is located in Saint-Cirq-Lapopie at the foot of one of France's most beautiful villages and follows the meanders of the Lot. The gravel cycling route Des falaises de Saint-Cirq-Lapopie à la forêt de Monclar begins in Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and climbs up onto the Causse.

The Croisière rando is an easy one-hour boat trip; the return journey can be made on foot via the well-known towpath from Bouziès.
