Montcuq: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Montcuq was built on a cone-shaped hill; its houses extend down the southern slope to the foot of the tower. Anyone choosing Montcuq as a destination will want to find or rent a holiday apartment there.

Culture

The Donjon of Montcuq has been listed as a Monument historique since 1904. The Tour de Montcuq houses three exhibitions: a permanent exhibition about the medieval village, one about the heritage of the Lot département, and one about Nino Ferrer. Visitors can explore four rooms, vaulted ceilings, fireplaces and latrines; from the upper part of the donjon, there is a view of the village, the valleys and the surrounding plateaus.

The Église Saint-Hilaire dates from the late 13th or early 14th century. Its richly coloured stained-glass windows depict scenes from the life of Christ and Saint Hilary.

Nature and Activities

At the Plan d'eau de Montcuq, there is an aqua zone as well as a rental service for stand-up paddleboards and pedal boats. The lake has been awarded the Pavillon Bleu; swimming there is supervised in July and August.

The Circuit du « Petit Rapporteur » is an 18-kilometre, moderately difficult mountain bike loop starting in Montcuq-en-Quercy-Blanc. On the GR65, it includes a climb with a ten percent gradient leading up to the plateau, and it can easily be divided into two sections if needed.

The Circuit du Chemin de Rouillac is an eight-kilometre, easy walking loop starting in Montcuq-en-Quercy-Blanc and partly follows the GR65 from Montcuq. On the way back, it offers a beautiful view of the village of Montcuq.

Local Life and Events

The Montcuq market takes place every Sunday morning; around 50 exhibitors take part in the Sunday market.

The Les 2 Jours de Montcuq event was founded in 1977 by Pierre Passemard. Its best-known format consists of two stages of 100 kilometres each.
