Culture and History
The Église Saint-Georges de Meyraguet has been classified as a historic monument since 12 October 1912. It is a former Romanesque chapel; its vaults and probably part of the gable front were renovated at the beginning of the 16th century.
At the Château de la Treyne, the façades and roofs, the straight staircase, and the furnishings of the large salon and billiard room on the ground floor are protected as historic monuments. The château also preserves the furnishings of the reception rooms from the early 20th century, as well as an English-style park dating from 1910. A footbridge over the Dordogne offers a panoramic view of the Château de la Treyne.
The Château de Belcastel, mentioned since 930, preserves part of the medieval residential building, the keep, and the chapel. The Poterie de Meyraguet offers tours of the workshop and demonstrations.
Nature and Trails
The Sentier karstique is 4.7 km long. It uses the Baludik app to follow in the footsteps of Armand Viré and the pages of his field journal, and to explore the Pech de Lacave.
Le Chemin des Ecoliers is an easy, 10.8 km circular hiking route that starts in Lacave; it takes around three hours.
Underground Experiences
Tours of the Grottes de Lacave began in 1906 and take place on foot with a guide. From 1961 onwards, access into the interior of the hill at the Grottes de Lacave was provided by a small electric railway that travels 400 metres underground.
The Préhisto-Dino Parc presents the development of species from the Big Bang to the Neolithic period. The first section of the Résurgence de Meyraguet is accessible by canoe; visitors are expressly advised not to venture farther into the cave.
