Issendolus: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture and History

At the Hôpital-Beaulieu site in Issendolus, the chapter house of a former monastery of the Hospitaller Sisters has been preserved. The monastery existed from 1236 to 1793 and was located on the route to Rocamadour and Saint-Jacques. The chapter house has been listed and protected as a historic monument since 1921. Extensive stabilisation and restoration work was carried out there between 2021 and 2025. It is located in the Parc naturel régional des Causses du Quercy.

The older part of the Church of Saint-Julien in Issendolus is Romanesque; the apse and the choir bay probably date from the 12th century. The church is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Inside, there is a reliquary containing relics of Sainte Fleur, as well as a 19th-century stained-glass window depicting Sainte Fleur with roses. The relics were returned to the parish in 1859 and put on display for veneration in 2014.

Gabaudet is a memorial site associated with the massacre and deportation of resistance fighters and civilians on 8 June 1944. The site is open to visitors; a stele names some of the victims, and commemorative ceremonies are held every year. The two Dolmens of Gabaudet are located on private land and have been classified since 1934. One of them has an 11-tonne capstone.

Trails and Landscape

The municipality of Issendolus displays local circular routes on signboards at Hôpital-Beaulieu, by the town hall and in Garry. Le chemin des Dolmens et des Cazelles is a very easy, 9 km mountain-bike loop starting from Issendolus. The route is a family-friendly outing through the Quercy Causse, with paths, dry-stone walls and the remains of Hôpital-Beaulieu.

La Randonnée du Causse is open to horse riders and mountain bikers. The circular route from Issendolus is 15.9 km long, with a stated duration of approximately 4 hours 30 minutes and a moderate difficulty level. It offers insights into the diverse facets of the Causse, with rural architecture, crosses, dry grasslands, dry-stone walls, Cazelles and Dolmens.

Cycling and Horse Riding

Equi’Causse in Issendolus offers multi-day and one-day rides, one- or two-hour rides, horseback archery and pony rides.
