Nature
Gramat is located in the Parc naturel régional des Causses du Quercy. The Parc Animalier de Gramat offers educational tours as well as talks with animal keepers during feeding sessions. On a 40-hectare, shaded site, the animal park showcases 150 animal species.
The Moulin du Saut area is designated as an Espace Naturel Sensible of the Lot department and as a Natura 2000 site. The Circuit du moulin du Saut trail runs along the bottom of the Alzou Canyon and reveals the ruins of the Moulin du Saut mill, built directly into the cliff face in the 18th century.
Culture and History
Le Couvent in Gramat comprises a nine-hectare religious site enclosed according to the principle of a secluded monastic precinct and including a large meadow, an arboretum, an orchard, and a herb garden. During the War of 1870, the chapel wing served as a hospital and was consecrated in 1873. The buildings of the former farm were constructed between 1888 and 1890 and house a washhouse and a large bread oven.
The Église Saint-Pierre in Gramat is a neo-Gothic church built at the beginning of the 20th century. It houses an organ classified as a Monument historique. The Tour de l’Horloge is a remnant from the 16th century and formerly served as a watchtower.
Those who choose Gramat as their destination want to rent a holiday apartment for their stay.
Markets and Regional Products
The Halle de Gramat was built in the 19th century on the site of former medieval markets. Several times a week, it hosts traditional markets with local producers, artisans, and sellers of cheese, cured meats, and vegetables.
