Cuzance is located on the limestone plateau of the Causse de Martel, where erosion has shaped a characteristic karst landscape. In the higher areas, a mosaic of calcareous dry grasslands and downy oak forests can be found within a sylvopastoral landscape. Hiking
Cuzance has three signposted circular trails that can be completed as day hikes. The Tour de Cuzance is a signposted 3-km hiking trail with a downloadable route description and GPS track.
The Chemin des Fontaines is an easy, 11-km circular trail marked with yellow signs. It takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes and is accessible on foot, on horseback or by mountain bike. It leads from spring to spring through the Causse landscape.
Culture
The Church of Saint Peter in Cuzance was probably built in the second half of the 12th century. A southern aisle and a northern chapel were added in the first half of the 16th century. The church preserves numerous Romanesque elements and houses a bell dated 1429. Dated structural elements from the 12th century are made of dressed stone, while later additions were built with rubble masonry. In the southern aisle, there is a carved skull bearing the inscription „MEMENTO MORI“.
The Church of Saint Victor in Rignac essentially dates from the first half of the 12th century. An aisle with two bays and a chapel may have been added in the 16th century; the northern chapel was built in 1854. Details include portal capitals decorated with interlacing patterns and an apse capital depicting two fish-tailed sirens.
The bread oven in Rignac was restored in the 2000s and inaugurated in 2008. Cuzance also has numerous crosses and calvaries; they were recorded in a local inventory and covered in a cultural brochure.
Cuisine
Ferme de la Truffe offers guided tours of its truffle grounds, demonstrations of truffle hunting and tastings of toast with truffle butter.
