Cornac: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Cornac is predominantly covered by forest; on the slopes, the landscape is interspersed with meadows and pastures. The Mamoul, a tributary of the Dordogne, emerges from picturesque gorges into the plain of Cornac and divides there into several branches. Nature

History and culture

In the medieval fortified village of Cornac, around thirty families lived crowded together around the church; the village had two gates, fortified perimeter walls and ditches. The Château de Laborie castle is located in the vicinity of Cornac. The historic site of La Grâce-Dieu (Abbey: Leyme, France) is also located there. In the wider regional area is the Château de la Barthe castle, while the Château d’Assier palace is likewise assigned to this regional area.

The Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs is a 13th-century chapel on a nearby hill in the cemetery overlooking Cornac. Its choir contains superimposed trompe-l’œil decorations, including a medieval design and a false altarpiece from the 17th century. The Luminescence - Vitraux workshop works with leaded glass, the Tiffany technique and fusing.

Activities

Cornac has a Tèrra-Aventura treasure hunt, in which a walk several kilometres long, puzzles and the search for treasure serve to discover unusual places. Les Amis de Cornac organise guided and theatrical tours in summer and offer tours for groups of four or more people throughout the year on request.

For the fifth edition of La Cornacopia, hiking routes of 5, 12 and 18 km and nature trail routes of 12, 18 and 30 km are designated. Luminescence - Vitraux offers a permanent exhibition and studio tours by appointment.
