The Church of Saint-Pierre in Carennac was built towards the end of the 11th century. In the mid-12th century, it was expanded by the construction of a large porch with a sculpted tympanum. The tympanum is considered one of the finest examples of Romanesque sculpture.

The cloister of Carennac also preserves different construction phases. One Romanesque gallery is still intact, while the other three galleries were rebuilt towards the end of the 15th century. The chapter house building of the cloister houses a stone Entombment dating from the late 15th century.
