Cardaillac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Cardaillac is one of the “Plus Beaux Villages de France” and is situated on a rocky spur above wooded valleys. The founding of Cardaillac can be dated back to the 8th century.

Culture
The Musée Eclaté is designed as a discovery tour through one of the village’s neighbourhoods. Its stops include the former home of a Sémalier, a chestnut dryer, a plum-drying room, a walnut oil mill with a press, an early 20th-century classroom and a clog-making workshop. The museum also displays old toys, sculptures and paintings.
The Jardin Médiéval is an open-air museum featuring medieval textile, dye and medicinal plants, as well as so-called witch plants. Its vegetable garden contains plants that were used in medieval cuisine; each plant is accompanied by information about its origins and use in the Middle Ages.
History
The Church of Saint-Julien is the surviving part of a priory. Two of Cardaillac’s three towers are classified as historic monuments. Two square defensive towers from the 17th and 18th centuries remain in the Fort of Cardaillac.
The remains of Cardaillac’s medieval fort can be explored independently along a signposted, annotated tour with an accompanying booklet.
Tours and Trails
The Les Clefs de Cardaillac discovery trail leads through the village and includes puzzles for children. The GR®6 passes through Cardaillac and enables pilgrims on the Way of St. James to travel from Figeac to the sanctuary of Rocamadour.
Local Crafts
The Savonnerie de Cardaillac produces and sells cosmetics made from carefully selected ingredients from organic and/or local agriculture.
In the Village
The CARDAILLAC – Bourg bus stop can be reached from the Cardaillac visitor centre in less than a ten-minute walk.
