Calamane: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Château de Calamane stands approximately 300 metres as the crow flies from the village, which lies farther down in the valley, at the confluence of the Rouby and Calamane streams. Its oldest surviving construction dates back to the end of the 15th century. Two large round towers with loopholes for small-calibre firearms flank the château; the towers were crowned with machicolations.

Culture

The plans for the new Église Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens in Calamane are dated 31 March 1874. The church has a Latin-cross floor plan, a ribbed vault and a square bell tower.

The Combadou Mill is a 17th-century mill located in the village, with two millstones in the typical Quercy style; it belongs to Madame Serres.

Paths

“Il suffit de passer les ponts” is an easy, 7.5-kilometre circular PR hiking route starting in Calamane and taking approximately two hours. The circular route passes beneath the Calamane viaduct. The long viaduct near the centre of Calamane was built from 1881 onwards as part of the construction of the Paris–Toulouse railway line.

Water and Landscape

The Calamane stream is distributed through several channels controlled by various sluice gates. Sections of the La Calamanaise routes run along the stream, across a plateau and along numerous narrow forest paths in unspoilt areas. The 20th edition of La Calamanaise was announced for 12 April 2026.
