Bio: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Bio is part of the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park. Bio is also home to the “secteur de Lacérède” Natura 2000 site. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Bio is planning their stay directly in Bio.

Nature and landscape

The Causse de Gramat in Bio is a limestone plateau crisscrossed by dry-stone walls and dotted with stone huts known as cazelles. The hermit beetle, Osmoderma eremita, has been observed in the Lacérède and Mas de Martel sectors in Bio.

Trails and village scenery

Bio has signposted trails for hiking, horseback riding and cycling. The signposted trails lead to dry-stone walls, restored washhouses and fountains, as well as to cazelles and gariottes. They also provide access to the flora and fauna of the Causse and to the municipality’s scattered hamlets.

History and architectural heritage

The present-day Saint-Hilaire church preserves a nave dating from the 14th century. Apparently, the church was completely rebuilt between the late 15th and early 16th centuries. The Château de Palaret was a fortress whose name frequently appears in the history of Quercy during the Hundred Years’ War. Only the site, some remnants of foundation walls and a very deep well remain of the Château de Palaret.

Bio has six washhouses: two in the village centre and four in hamlets, including one on private land.

Village life and events

Bio has a landscaped public garden with play areas for children. The Marché festif et gourmand de Bio takes place on Thursdays during the peak tourist season. The ABC de Bio offers events throughout the year, providing opportunities to rediscover Bio’s biodiversity.
