History

The bell of Bannes church was commissioned from a bell founder in 1684. The church tower of Bannes church was restored in 1904. The roof, load-bearing structure and interior of Bannes church were restored in 2008.

The chapel of the Ribayroles family was built on the north side of Bannes church. The chapel of the Cancès de Lacam family is located on the right-hand side of Bannes church. A vicarage was built near Bannes church around 1668 to accommodate the vicar.

In the 18th century, the Moulin de Saint-Cirq was one of the six watermills in the municipality of Bannes. In the 18th century, the Moulin d’Embiarque was one of the four watermills on the Biarque in the municipality of Bannes. The Moulin de Rey (Rougié) was located on the Font Gaillard stream.

Culture

The Escambis Festival is a three-day Occitan festival held in Saint-Céré and Bannes on the first weekend of May. The Bannes programme of the Escambis Festival included bilingual plays by LE PETIT THÉÂTRE DE SOUSCEYRAC. Folk dancing by LES BOURRÉLOUS was also scheduled.
