Vidouze: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Vidouze originated from a medieval castle settlement located on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.
Anyone choosing Vidouze as a travel destination may be planning to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture and History
Vidouze has two churches dedicated to Saint James. As early as the Middle Ages, the village had a religious foundation dedicated to Saint James. Also during the Middle Ages, a feudal estate in Vidouze belonged to the Benedictine Abbey of Larreule. There are also traces of Neolithic settlements in the Vidouze area. The former church of Ariagosse was converted into a chapel.
Routes
The GR® 653, the Via d’Arles, crosses the area from Monlezun to Vidouze over approximately 33 kilometres. A section of the Via d’Arles on the GR® 653 from Lahitte-Toupière to Anoye is 18.3 kilometres long and takes six hours on foot. After 4.1 kilometres, or approximately one hour, the pilgrimage route reaches the Mairie de Vidouze, where there is a water point. From the Mairie de Vidouze, the route follows the Cami de Lacoume below the church.
