The landscape of the Coteaux de Capvern à Betplan is predominantly wooded. Oak forests in particular characterise the area, complemented by beech and chestnut trees. In some places, the wooded areas form a mosaic with heathland, grassland, meadows and extensively cultivated land.
In some places, there are marly grasslands rich in orchids. Traditional fresh meadows with daffodils (Narcissus subsp.) lie in the valley bottoms.
Culture
The Église Saint-Laurent in Burg dates from the 12th to 13th century. The Church of Burg stands in the Vallon de la Bégole.
Events
In Burg, the Banda Les Boléros Burgais organises the Nuit des Boléros every year at the beginning of July. The banda was founded in 1996 and consists of around 50 musicians from Burg, the Hautes-Pyrénées and the surrounding area.
At the Nuit des Boléros, a meal is held under a marquee and accompanied by several bandas. For Saturday, 5 July 2025, the municipality of Burg announced the 12th Nuit des Boléros as an evening of music and socialising with an aperitif, meal and banda entertainment.
The Fête du battage à l'ancienne includes demonstrations of old steam-powered machines by farmers from the village. It was first organised by residents of Burg 25 years ago and is now one of the favourite summer events in the Hautes-Pyrénées.
