History

The Notre-Dame de Piétat Chapel has been a pilgrimage site since the Middle Ages. A document from 1568 confirms the existence of the Piétat Chapel as a pilgrimage site.

Neolithic flints and flint arrowheads found in Barbazan-Debat attest to a very early settlement of the village. The Oppidum de Piétat is a citadel built of earth and wood, with double enclosures, ditches and ramparts. The Church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption stands in the centre of the village.

Culture

Edmond Lay's studio opens wide onto the landscape. It follows an organic architectural approach inspired by the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

Nature

The local walking trails lead through the Roubisclou Forest. In Barbazan-Debat, there is the Trait Vert de la CATLP walking trail as well as the Roubisclou walking trail. Along the walking trails, information boards provide details about the local historical heritage and the environment.

Padouen has a pond and a gloriette, as well as a safe footpath for walking. A health trail was added in Padouen in 2019, allowing younger and older people to do exercises.
