Ayzac-Ost: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Nature

Ayzac-Ost is part of ZNIEFF 730011457, a 4,470.74-hectare ecological inventory area that mainly encompasses the southern slopes of the Granquet and Pibeste mountain ranges. Nearby are Pène de Souquète, la Serre, Pic de Boun and Pic du Pibeste, each a summit.

The Voie verte des Gaves is 18 kilometres long and runs from Lourdes to Pierrefitte-Nestalas through villages and pastureland, as well as along the Gave.

Culture and history

The Église Saint-André d’Ayzac has Romanesque origins and was altered in the 17th and 18th centuries. Inside is an altarpiece dating from the late 17th to early 18th century, attributed to the Claverie workshop in Lourdes.

The Église Sainte-Lucie d’Ost has medieval origins and was rebuilt in the 19th century. The church contains a painting from 1651 depicting Christ on Golgotha, which was restored in 2010.

Near Ayzac-Ost is the Abbaye Saint-Savin-en-Lavedan, a historic site. The surrounding area also includes Château Fort, a castle; the Maison paternelle de Bernadette, a historic site; and the Monastere de Marie-Immaculee, Reine du Rosaire, a monastery.

Geographical location

The Parc Animalier des Pyrénées is located in the municipality of Ayzac-Ost, at the entrance to Argelès-Gazost. The Église Saint-André d’Ayzac is less than a ten-minute walk from the AYZAC-OST – Mairie bus stop, served by the Lourdes–Vallées line. The Église Sainte-Lucie d’Ost is less than a ten-minute walk from the AYZAC-OST – Église d’Ost bus stop, which is also served by the Lourdes–Vallées line.
