Culture and History

The Church of Saint-Étienne in Sarcos dates from the 16th century and is Gothic in style.

The Passion Cross in the church of Sarcos is carried in a procession during Holy Week and then put on display.

Nature

The protected area “Cours de la Gimone et de la Marcaoue” also includes Sarcos.

It is a type 2 ZNIEFF and forms an ecological corridor along the Gimone and Marcaoue rivers.

The “Cours de la Gimone et de la Marcaoue” area is designated as an SAC, SCI and pSCI under the Habitats Directive.

There is a wetland in the vicinity of Lac de la Gimone in Sarcos-Cap d'Astarac.

Getting Around and Throughout the Year

The “Balades dans Cap d'Astarac-Monbardon & Sarcos” route runs from Monbardon to Sarcos and passes through the village.

The “Le sentier des 2 lacs” circular route is designated for hiking, trail running, mountain biking and horseback riding.

The 13 km “Le sentier des 2 lacs” circular route is signposted in Sarcos on the D283.

The Sarcos village festival takes place every year on the first weekend of August.
