Plieux is situated on a promontory above the Auroue Valley to the west and the Arrats Valley to the east. The town’s history includes the remains of the eastern gate on the Grande rue, which bear witness to Plieux’s former fortifications.
History
The Castrum of Plieux probably dates back to the 13th century. The Château de Plieux was built in 1340 by the Faudoas family on the site of a castrum or motte-and-bailey castle. The château is considered one of the last Gascon castles.
Culture
The Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste has a flanking bell tower dating from the 15th century. Its stone spire is twice as high as the church. Openings in the tower may resemble loopholes.
The Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste is located outside the village, opposite the Château de Plieux. The château serves as a venue for exhibitions of contemporary art and cultural events. The Fonds Jean-Paul Marcheschi is also presented across three levels at the Château de Plieux.
Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Plieux should consider this place as a travel destination.

The VAE Circuit 4, an electric bicycle route in Gascogne Lomagne, runs through Plieux.
