Montadet: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Landscape

The Espienne crosses Montadet from south to north and flows through the village centre. The village lies at an altitude of 235 metres amid hills typical of the Gers landscape and has an elevation difference of 122 metres. The elongated area extends from the Save Valley in the west to the heights above the Aussoue Valley in the east.

Culture

Montadet was first mentioned in 1149 in connection with the Count of Comminges. Le Tupé is a 304-metre-high natural hill that has been inhabited since the Bronze Age. A fortified settlement was built on this natural hill in the middle of the 13th century and suddenly disappeared in the 14th century during the Hundred Years' War.

The Château de Labusquière is situated on a rocky promontory and has been mentioned since 1208; it also has a private chapel. A former water mill on the Espienne was owned for centuries by the lords of La Busquière.

Cycling route

The Parcours Découverte du Savès is described as a tourist and cultural route for electric bicycles. A published section of the route on the D202 towards Montadet is specified for the Parcours. The stated length is 44.0 kilometres.

Local production

Les Ruchers de Montadet produce acacia, chestnut and linden honey, as well as pollen and blocks of wax. La Ferme de Lacassagne produces pork and sausages made from a mixture of several breeds. La Ferme de Lacassagne processes its meat on site in a canning facility.

Sightseeing

The Église Saint-Pierre is closed to the public. At the same time, visits are possible on Thursdays from the beginning of May to the end of September by registering at the town hall.
