Nature
The area around Maravat consists of a succession of hills and small valleys. The village lies in a valley depression, almost at the source of the Lourbat.

History
In the 14th century, Maravat received the Charter of Customs granted by Count Azemar de Maravat. The Château de Maravat was mentioned in 1295. Maravat is regarded as a historic site and a historic monument.
Culture
The rural Saint-Pierre Church in Maravat is built of flat tiles. Its nave is flanked by a chapel and a sacristy located to the southeast; the church also has a semicircular apse. A porch is attached to the façade, protecting its studded wooden portal. Saint-Pierre is topped by a bell gable with three round-arched openings. One of the church’s bells dates from the 16th century. The furnishings also include an octagonal baptismal font carved from hollowed-out stone.
The communal fountain in Maravat is built of flat tiles and crowned by a pointed-arch dome.
