Maignaut-Tauzia is a former Castelnau, meaning a fortified village. The fortified settlement is entered through a fortified gate; of the two original gate towers, only the northern gate remains.

History
The Château de Maignaut was built in the 14th century and modernised between the 15th and 16th centuries. The Church of Saint Michael, dedicated to Saint Michael, was built outside the former fortifications after the medieval church attached to the château had been destroyed.
The ruins of the Château de Tauzia were classified as a historic monument by decree of 14 November 1942. The Pigeonnier-octroi et fontaine was likewise classified as a historic monument by decree of 15 January 2010; it is presumably a 19th-century structure with a triangular ground plan.
The Chapelle Notre Dame de l'Auloue (Le Canonge) dates from the Romanesque period. Its west façade is crowned by a bell gable with a single arch housing one bell.
Nature
The PR 29 circular trail is 11.6 kilometres long, has a moderate difficulty level, takes three hours and begins at the picnic and playground area in Maignaut-Tauzia. It crosses the Auloue Valley and passes along the edge of the historic site of Tauzia, which consists of the remains of a Gascon castle.
