In the centre of Fourcès lies a circular square shaded by plane trees. Fourcès is a former medieval Castelnau; the square is reminiscent of a former fortified motte. The village belongs to the Plus Beaux Villages de France®.

Culture and history
The historic Ancienne porte de ville comprises a vaulted passageway and a fragment of the town walls. The Tour de l’Horloge, dating from the 13th century, was formerly a town gate. The tower and the vaulted passageway of the former town-gate complex known as the “Tour de l’Horloge” have been partially listed as historic monuments since 13 May 1937.
The Église Saint-Laurent is designed in the Neo-Gothic style and has faithfully restored stained-glass windows. It was built in 1875 on the remains of a 13th-century building.
The pre-Romanesque Église Sainte-Quitterie de Laspeyres belongs to the municipality of Fourcès. It was formerly under the authority of the Benedictine monastery of Romboeuf, which became the Cluniac priory of Saint-Mont Abbey in 1068. Traces of the presence of the Knights Templar in the 12th century have been preserved at the site of the church.
Landscape
The fish-rich Auzoue River encircles the circular bastide of Fourcès and forms a green frame around its houses. The Portes d’Orée viewpoint offers a 360° panorama and can be reached via a marked trail.
Exploring the area and throughout the year
Fourcès lies on the GR654 section of the Way of St James. For groups, a one-hour guided tour is available by reservation through the Ténarèze Tourist Office. In summer, the escape game “Le Mystère de la croix occitane” also takes place on Mondays and Thursdays by reservation.
