History and Culture
Castelnavet is an authentic Gascon castelnau, built around the 12th century by the Counts of Armagnac. A notable testament to the history of the village is the Église d'Auban, also known as the Chapelle du Ban. It is protected as a historic monument; the protection was granted by decree on 5 July 1979.
The parish church of Castelnavet contains a gilded wooden altarpiece from the 17th century, as well as a polychrome wooden statue of the Virgin Mary. The Église d'Auban also features a Romanesque portal with three archivolts and a Chrismon in the tympanum, as well as a wall bell tower with two sound openings.
