Culture
The Saint-Jean-de-Balmes priory preserves the remains of a Romanesque church, two chapels, traces of the convent buildings and a former cemetery. It is an example of Romanesque architecture in Rouergue. The municipality of Veyreau acquired the priory, and local residents restored it.
The convent at the entrance to Veyreau from the direction of Meyrueis was built by the religious order of Saint Joseph, inaugurated in 1826 and housed the village's girls' school.
The building “Le toit-citerne de la Roujarie” was constructed at the end of the 19th century and restored by residents of Veyreau. Rainwater was collected in the building and then stored in an adjacent cistern; roof cisterns of this kind enabled flocks of sheep to live on the Causse.
