The medieval town of Sévérac-le-Château bears the “Petite Cité de Caractère” label. Two of the medieval town’s four former fortified gates have survived: Peyrou and Latazou.
The Château de Sévérac offers a remarkable view over the Aveyron valley. Its summer programme includes free or guided tours, medieval events and medieval street theatre. The Sesteyral is a covered market in the medieval town of Sévérac-le-Château.

The free “Amaury le Chevalier” game leaflet is designed for families exploring the medieval town and is available from the tourist office or for download. An easy, 35-kilometre cycle route leads from the Château de Sévérac to the Causse de Sévérac of the same name.
In the immediate vicinity of the medieval town, Lac de la Cisba has a designated beach, a fitness trail and picnic tables.
Geographical Location
From September to June, the Château de Sévérac and the medieval town can be explored on a self-guided tour. The Château de Sévérac is located near the A75 motorway.
The wider regional surroundings of Sévérac-le-Château include the Château de Triadou, the Prieuré de la Bénissons-Dieu-de-la-Falque, La Graufesenque, the pic de Montaigu, Roquemissou, the Puy de Campech, Le Poumio and Le Suc.
