Sanvensa: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Sanvensa is located on the Ségala plateau and overlooks the Aveyron Valley and the plain of Monteils.

Culture

The Château de Sanvensa was built in 1575 by Jean de Morlhon, Seneschal of Rouergue. It features a shortened square keep and, on the south side, two round towers with corbels that formerly supported machicolations. The château is partially protected as a historic monument; its façades and roofs were protected by a decree dated 29 December 1967. It is privately owned and not open to visitors.

The Église Sainte-Anne de Sanvensa was dedicated to Saint Anne in 1888.

“Oreilles en balade” in Sanvensa is an audio walk with six listening stations from the town hall to the lake. A smartphone is used to access the audio recordings. The communal bread oven is one of the walk’s listening stations; visitors can hear the story of the oven told by local residents via the QR code on the sign.

The communal bread oven in Les Escauts was restored at the end of 2022; the restoration was complete by spring 2024. Traditionally, the Authesserre family heated it every 15 days to bake large loaves of bread, which other local families could also benefit from.

The municipality of Sanvensa is included in the 14,643.98-hectare ZNIEFF “Vallée de l'Aveyron”. The Étang de Sanvensa is a place to have a picnic and enjoy the peace and quiet.

In the surrounding area, Villefranche-de-Rouergue and Najac are served by rail on the Toulouse–Aurillac line.
