Salvagnac-Cajarc: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Château in Salvagnac-Cajarc features medieval fortification architecture. Several parts of the building enclose a courtyard with round and square towers.

Culture

The oldest tower of the Château is a square keep. On the first floor, there is a vaulted room with painted floral decoration. The Château is partly listed as a French historic monument and partly classified as a French historic monument; the protection decisions date from 27 February 1991 and 4 March 1994.

The Church of the Nativité de Notre-Dame is part of the complex. It is partly Romanesque and integrated into the Château. Its nave was altered in the 14th century, while its tower became the bell tower.

Landscape

Near the Gouffre de Lantouy are the remains of the Saint-Namphase monastery. Its church was used until the 16th century. The traditional tales associated with the Gouffre de Lantouy also include legends of sunken bells.

The Gouffre de Lantouy is a gorg, meaning a deep pool in a stream or river. Salvagnac-Cajarc is also home to the Moulin de Lantouy, a former water mill with several buildings on an approximately 4-hectare wooded property. The Gîtes des Moulin de Lantouy offer guests direct access to the Lantouy stream and the Lot River.
