The entire Loc-Dieu complex is protected as a historic monument. Loc-Dieu Cistercian Abbey dates from the 12th century and was fortified in the 15th century. The historic site of Abbaye de Loc-Dieu is located in the vicinity of Martiel.
The Salle Mémoire de Martiel brings together texts, photographs and objects relating to local history and heritage. It is open to the public during the municipal library's opening hours.
Paths and Circular Routes
The Circuit de Ginoulhac is 7.5 kilometres long and takes approximately three hours.
Access to Lac de Bannac is free. A circular route of approximately four kilometres can be completed on foot or by mountain bike; apart from a few short wet sections, there are no major difficulties. The M6 circular route around Lac de Bannac leads to the old washhouse in the hamlet of Fontaynous.
